What is a BOTOX?

During the procedure, a botulinum toxin type A is used, which relaxes muscles and eliminates mimic wrinkles.

How does it work?

For this purpose, botulinum toxin type A (Botox, Azzalure) is used, which by blocking neuromuscular conduction causes weakening of muscles responsible for the formation of wrinkles around the forehead and eyes. The procedure is performed using a disposable syringe equipped with a very thin needle. Properly selected by the doctor dose of botulinum toxin preparation is injected into several places. The procedure takes a short time and the pain when injecting is minimal.

The effect of botulinum toxin appears between 3 and 10 days after injection. After about 2 weeks the effect is maximum and lasts from 3 to 6 months.

Treatments can be repeated every 6-8 months, no more than every 3 months.

Duration of the procedure up to 40 minutes.

Indications:

• horizontal forehead wrinkles
• vertical forehead wrinkles (so-called lion’s wrinkle, wrinkles of anger)
• wrinkles around the eyes (so-called crow’s feet)

Contraindications to the procedure, potential side effects and treatment after the injection are widely discussed with the doctor before the procedure.
