What is ‘Treatment of hyperhidrosis’?

Treatment of hyperhidrosis is a simple and effective way to improve quality of life when sweating becomes so intense and troublesome that it begins to limit us in our daily lives. Botulinum toxin type A is used during the procedure. This is a very simple and effective procedure, which many of our patients enjoy with satisfaction.

How does it work?

We use botulinum toxin type A, which inhibits neuroglandular conductivity, which leads to inhibition of sweat secretion. It is a safe procedure (after excluding medical contraindications) and extremely effective. It is based on injections of perspiration, such as armpits, hands or feet. The inhibition of sweat secretion in these areas does not affect the processes of systemic thermoregulation. The procedure is performed after prior local anesthesia with Emla cream. The effect of botulinum toxin in the treatment of hyperhidrosis appears after a few days and lasts for 4-12 months. Treatments can be safely repeated.

The treatment duration is about 30-40 minutes.

Indications:

• excessive sweating

Contraindications:

• hypersensitivity to neurotoxin complex clostridium botulinum type A
• allergy to toxin or its protein complex
• infection at the treatment site
• pregnancy and breastfeeding period
• active cancer
• certain neurological diseases, especially those with neuromuscular conduction disorders, e.g. myasthenia gravis
• certain autoimmune diseases
